6C : control and monitoring, what happens when and linking to Control technology ICT KS2 1B, 2B, 4A, b, c and 5c

The City Learning Centre is continuing to offer exciting short courses for year 5 and 6 classes in Control technology, using Robolab software to cover the requirements for:

Primary school Staff are invited to book an introductory meeting to inform them about the Centre's Control technology provision which covers KS2 of the National curriculum. or a presentation/demonstration of the software and hardware and schemes of work. Staff will have an opportunity to try out the equipment and obtain information how to book for their classes.

      The course consists of two ninety
     minute units which could be
    timetabled either as a whole day
   or two visits and is available
  free of charge to Brent
 Primary Schools.

On the course Pupils learn about the range of everday items that use computer control, the uses and benefits of computer control and to describe simple procedures using flow-diagrams. They learn to write programs which control devices and to download them to the LEGO RCX Block to run and test them, improving and refining their programes. Pupils learn to modify their programmes to respond to inputs from sensors including contact and light sensors.
